This Tuesday, our team had the privilege of attending the sold out Barrie Food Bank Second Annual Mac & Cheese Luncheon at the OLG Slots at Georgian Downs, who sponsored the event with The Faris Team. Royal LePage First Contact Realty, Brokerage and Melchior Management 777 Corporation were honored to be a platinum sponsor to help in the continued effort to feed families in our community. 

The guest speaker was none other than Bruce Croxon, co-founder of Lavalife and former star of the hit Canadian series Dragon’s Den! Bruce spent the afternoon providing entrepreneurial and personal insights he has gathered over the years and of course, a humorous recollection of his time spent in ‘The Den’ and his former cast mates.   

The afternoon finished with a message of extreme gratitude from the Barrie Food Bank’s Executive Director, Peter Sundborg, who challenged the audience to eat heavy carbs, such as, mac & cheese for a week straight. Emphasizing the importance of his goal to provide an abundance of fresh produce at the food bank for those in need to get the proper nutrients they need to fuel their bodies and live a healthier life.

The event was 100% donated with all of the proceeds going to the Barrie Food Bank. It is estimated that this year’s even larger event has raised more than double the $18,000 that was raised last year! We are proud to live and work in such a generous community!
